I Look At The World

Tennille Shuster and I are working to help educate, communicate, and foster conversations on uncomfortable topics that we seem to look past or avoid in our multi-cultural society. By combining a powerful Langston Hughes’ poem, Shuster's book art skills, and my portrait and cityscape drawings and paintings, we hope to bring awareness to these important issues. The limited, varied edition of 12 artist’s books, titled “I Look at the World” has been letterpress printed over archival-quality, digitally-printed Epson velvet fine art paper, each featuring unique hand-marbled hard covers, recessed with letterpress printed title and colophon insets. The accordion structure is comprised of five gate-fold folios, each opening to reveal a hand-transferred portrait with die-cut eyes, allowing a glimpse into the full color interior pages featuring sections of the poem.
